Abstract

Realise, my friends, what images are: The emergence in another place.

The artist translates the world of the sensual into the world of the spirit with the artistic elements. I start from the conviction that the cognition of reality makes possible the revival of cognition itself and that art is one of the paths to its realisation. Art is a realm of reality that transcends the boundaries of everyday consciousness.

A work of art is an image of experienced perception. In the process of perception, when we address only a single sense impression that is the focus of attention, other sense organs unconsciously react to the same sense impression; they follow it and influence it, transform it. We call this joint action synaesthesia.

Colour is the heart of painting! We connect intimately with the living image of colour and ask: „Who am I if I myself am this colour?“ or „What is of me this colour?“

Rembrandt is an inexhaustible source for my art-making. The gaze from his painting penetrated the depths of my soul and awakened in me the impression that he recognises me. The gaze is at the centre of my portraiture. The face is reflected in the portrait, the individuality shines in the gaze. I have explored the polar possibilities of painting the human gaze: the encompassing and the focussing, as well as the uniting of these two tendencies.

Light is the substance of life. In order for the world to become visible to humans, three sources of light meet radiantly in the process of seeing: the light of the sun, the light of the eye, and the light reflected from objects.

My painterly experience leads me to the thesis that each person’s gaze is pure light and reveals itself in a different colour in each person.Nothing is more accessible to the mind than the infinite.
